Float glass
Standard flat, clear glass. The name comes from the way it is made: molten glass floats on a bath of molten metal, so the sheet has an even thickness and gives an undistorted view. It is the basis for almost everything else: it is cut, toughened, laminated and built into insulating units.
| Thicknesses | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 mm |
| Sheet size | up to 6000 × 3210 mm |
Used for
windows, doors, façades, balustrades, shower enclosures and furniture

Cutting and processing
To size or to shape, with ground edges, holes and notches.
Cutting and processingToughened glass
Heated and rapidly cooled. For shower enclosures, doors and balustrades.
Toughened glassLaminating
Panes bonded with a PVB or EVA interlayer.
LaminatingInsulating glass
Float glass as the basis for double and triple glazed units.
Insulating glassFloat or UltraClear™.
At 4 mm there is hardly any difference. The iron shows as a greenish tint on the edge of the glass and when several panes stand one behind another. The thicker the glass, the greener it is. That is why UltraClear™ is used for thick glass, balustrades and display cabinets.
